Five generations of Kansas values are in Jeff Colyer’s heart.  He grew up with that special spirit that propels Kansans to make our community a better place.  And he’s already left his mark on countless lives.

Jeff Colyer established a reputation for expertise in public policy, medicine, and foreign affairs.  That expertise earned him a White House Fellowship, where he served on the White House and foreign policy staffs of Presidents Reagan and Bush.  But he was driven to do even more.

Jeff Colyer has made his mark here in our community.  He’s donated time and skills to heal our children and our neighbors.

His passion for education continues to shine through his work.  He teaches at local schools and universities.   Jeff Colyer often talks to kids about service, volunteering in warzones, and striving to be their best.  He serves on the KU Advisory Board, and helps train future surgeons.

He runs his own business in Overland Park.  He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce and numerous local and national organizations.

The father of three girls, Jeff Colyer and his wife, Ruth, are committed to making Kansas an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.

Earning his MD from Kansas University, Colyer became one of only 200 plastic surgeons in the world with a special interest in craniofacial surgery.  He became a leader in the medical community and helped launch the Patient Protection Act.

Seeing the tragedy of innocent suffering, Jeff Colyer combined his international and medical experience to help those in need.  During a genocidal war in Africa, Jeff Colyer was the only surgeon in southern Rwanda.  There on the edge of horrific conflict, he worked to save lives.

When Osama Bin Laden blew up the American Embassy in Nairobi, Jeff Colyer was there.  Again and again in Afghanistan, Armenia, Kosovo, and Sierra Leone, when war broke loose, Jeff Colyer went to help ease the suffering.

In the Kansas House, Jeff Colyer has been a powerful advocate for our Republican principles of lower taxes, less spending, great schools, improved healthcare, and strong values.  Jeff Colyer is committed to serving you just as he did in Rwanda, Afghanistan and Iraq.

That’s exactly why we need a Doctor in the House.
